In a renewed push to improve the welfare of Nigerian students in Hungary, Amb. Abasi Braimah, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Hungary has pledged enhanced support and closer engagement with the Nigerian student community.
The commitment comes as the University of Pécs, one of Hungary’s oldest institutions of higher learning, hosts more than 300 Nigerian students, with its history spanning over 200 years
Braimah gave the assurance when he hosted the newly elected executives of the Nigerian Students’ Union, University of Pécs, alongside other Embassy officials in Budapest.

The delegation visited the Embassy to formally introduce the new union leadership and explore areas of partnership with the Nigerian diplomatic mission.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the student leaders to present issues affecting Nigerian students in Pécs and identify areas where the Embassy could offer assistance.
“The Embassy will remain committed to supporting them and adding value to their stay in Hungary,” Braimah said in a statement emailed to PerSecondNews on Tuesday.
He encouraged the union leadership to share ideas and suggestions that could strengthen the relationship between the students and the Embassy.
The ambassador also announced that the Embassy would undertake a working visit to the University of Pécs to engage directly with the institution and the Nigerian student community.
