Veteran Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu, has received a major lifeline after Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, approved the payment of the first phase of her medical expenses following her emotional public appeal for financial assistance.
The actress had recently revealed that she had been hospitalised for three weeks and required three life-saving surgeries estimated to cost about ₦30 million, pleading with fans, colleagues and well-wishers not to let her die as the financial burden had become overwhelming.
The governor’s intervention was announced by his Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, popularly known as JMartins, who disclosed that Otti had approved the first tranche of the actress’s medical bills.
“His Excellency @alexottiofr has just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of her medical bills,” JMartins wrote in a post on X.

While expressing gratitude to the governor, the singer-turned-government aide noted that the intervention covers only part of the expenses, urging compassionate Nigerians to continue supporting the actress until all her medical needs are met.
“While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible. On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader. Ndewo sir,” he added.
Nwosu’s emotional appeal had sparked concern across the entertainment industry after she disclosed in a video that she had been battling serious health challenges and could no longer cope with the rising cost of treatment.
The 62-year-old veteran Nollywood actress continues to draw widespread support and prayers from colleagues, fans, and the general public.
Meanwhile, Governor Otti has earned praise for promptly answering her distress call.
