Fresh off receiving their official Federal Government rewards in Rabat for their 2025 WAFCON victory, Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set to begin their title defence against tournament newcomers Malawi.

Persecondnews correspondent in Rabat, Morocco, reports that NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi presented the prizes to the ten-time champions on Tuesday.
The team also gets an extra motivation boost for WAFCON 2026: the National Sports Commission announced a $5,000 cash bonus for every single goal scored in the group stage.
Ten-time champions Nigeria are set to launch their WAFCON title defence against tournament debutants Malawi at Rabat’s Al Madina Stadium in Group C.
The Super Falcons boast an intimidating record against newcomers, remaining undefeated across 18 such meetings with 16 wins, one draw, 67 goals scored, and just four conceded.
Coach Madugu has named his starting line-up with star forward Asisat Oshoala beginning on the bench and Michelle Alozie handed a place in the first eleven.
The decision underscores the depth available as the side seeks another deep run.

Nigeria’s tournament pedigree is unmatched, having reached the semi-finals in all 13 previous editions of WAFCON.

That incredible streak now faces its first test against a side making their debut on the continental stage.
