A security issue has emerged at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, where five members of Nigeria’s Super Falcons allegedly had more than $1,200 stolen during their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations preparations.
According to team members, the cash vanished from their wallets while their rooms were left unattended.
Persecondnews correspondent who landed in Morocco on Friday for the tournament reports that the losses by the squad include $700 from Esther Okoronkwo, $200 from Rasheedat Ajibade, $120 from Joy Omewa, and $100 each from Osinachi Ohale and Halimatu Ayinde.
The team has been staying at the Marriott during its pre-tournament camp in Morocco.
Players said the money disappeared from wallets left inside the rooms while they were away.
Okoronkwo, who suffered the largest loss, said she had formally reported the matter to hotel management.
She said the response from staff was unsatisfactory and offered little clarity or resolution.
She further alleged that cleaning personnel were responsible, claiming the money was taken during routine room service while the players were out.
The combined sum of the five reported thefts surpasses $1,200.
No official statement has yet been issued by the hotel management regarding the allegations.
According to the squad, the thefts occurred under identical circumstances: money disappeared from wallets left in their rooms while hotel staff were inside.
The troubling claims arrive as the team continues its training ahead of the continental championship.
