Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, produced a clinical attacking masterclass as they crushed Future Stars ’99 Soccer Academy 15-0 in a preparatory fixture, underlining their firepower ahead of next week’s clash with Benin Republic.
Seven different players got on the scoresheet in an emphatic show of squad depth and finishing sharpness that will boost confidence in the camp.
Kindness Ifeanyi set the tone with a first-half hat-trick, netting in the 8th, 10th and 29th minutes to put the Flamingos in total control early on.
Tosin Rafiu followed with a quickfire brace in the 13th and 19th minutes, while Queen Joseph and Esther Stephen also found the net before the interval.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi then converted a penalty deep into first-half stoppage time to send the Flamingos into the break leading 8-0.
The second half brought no let-up. Oluebube Umejiaku struck twice in quick succession in the 60th and 65th minutes, before Destiny Itobore added another three minutes later.
Precious Oscar grabbed two late goals, and substitute Tobiloba Sarafa capped the rout with a brace in stoppage time.
The spread of scorers across the squad highlighted the attacking options available to the coaching staff as they prepare for tougher tests.
Persecondnews reports that this dominant win injects huge confidence into the Flamingos ahead of their July 4 encounter with Benin Republic, which promises to be a far sterner test.
