Tinubu Taps Accountant Elebute to Chair FRCN Board

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed expert financial management consultant and Chartered Accountant, Kunle Elebute, as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.

The appointment was announced in a statement  by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Thursday.

The Presidency said the appointment was aimed at strengthening corporate governance, boosting transparency and accountability, and also increasing investors’ confidence in Nigeria’s financial reporting system.“Elebute brings more than four decades of experience in accounting, auditing, financial advisory and corporate governance across Nigeria, West Africa and global markets,” the statement said.

It noted that he had built a distinguished career, serving as Senior Partner and Chief Executive Officer of KPMG Nigeria before becoming Chairman of KPMG West Africa and KPMG Africa.

“His expertise spans audit, financial advisory, risk consulting, corporate governance and strategic transformation, with advisory experience across key sectors of the economy”.

It added that his appointment comes as the FRCN advances critical reforms, including engagements under the UK–Nigeria Enhanced Trade and Investment Partnership to strengthen corporate reporting standards.
