FCT Poll Results: Like PDP, APC Considers Legal Action Over Gwagwalada Loss

633

Celebrating a near-total victory in the FCT polls, the APC has characterized the outcome as a “dress rehearsal” for 2027.
The party won five councils—Abaji, AMAC, Bwari, Kwali, and Kuje—but lost Gwagwalada to the PDP.
Mr. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kwara Governor and Chairman of the FCT APC Campaign Council, confirmed that the party’s Situation Room is currently reviewing the Gwagwalada loss for a potential court petition.
“Gwagwalada, we will keep looking at the electoral documents to see if the chances are there to reclaim the seat for you through the legal processes,” AbdulRazaq said.
The governor credited the victory in the five other councils to President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
He said: “We thank Mr President for showing leadership, showing direction for the party… his policies have led to what we achieved today. The people of Abuja have embraced his policies and they have turned out to vote for our party.”
APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda highlighted the AMAC win as a strategic indicator of the party’s strength.
He mocked rival parties for what he called their lack of local engagement, asserting that the APC’s grassroots focus outperformed the opposition’s social media presence.
Yilwatda emphasized that by securing the FCT’s most diverse community, the party has set a clear trajectory for the upcoming general elections.
