Nigerian actor and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Pere Egbi, has stirred conversation online after sharing his thoughts on same-sex relationships and how they align with his faith and understanding of the Scripture.
In a recent interview, Pere explained that while he views all sins equally, he believes same-sex marriage deviates from God’s original design for humanity.
His comments quickly sparked debate across social media platforms.
“Being LGBTQ+ is a sin as other sins,” Pere said firmly. “It’s not a greater sin nor is it a lesser sin.”
He stressed that, in his view, moral failings should not be measured on a sliding scale.
According to him, no wrongdoing should be elevated above another, even if society treats some issues with more intensity than others.
“God did not create a man for another man nor a woman for another woman,” he continued. “He didn’t make a man to be with other men.”
The actor further explained that his position is rooted in his interpretation of biblical teachings.
He referenced the story of Sodom and Gomorrah as a foundational example that informs his conviction on the matter.
“And to prove my point, it was for this same reason He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah,” Pere added, emphasizing that his argument is grounded in scripture rather than personal bias.
While his remarks have generated mixed reactions, Pere appeared resolute in standing by his beliefs, making it clear that he was expressing a faith-based perspective rather than singling out any group for condemnation.
