Dayo Amusa emerges AGN Southwest Vice President, pledges to empower actors

Nollywood actress, Dayo Amusa, has been officially elected as the Southwest Vice President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), promising to leverage her new position to strengthen the industry and create opportunities for her colleagues.

The mother of one, who had previously contested for the position last year, shared the news with fans on her Instagram page, posting a photo of her official certificate with the caption:

“IT’S OFFICIAL!!!TEMIDAYO AMUSA. National Vice President (Southwest) Actors Guild Of Nigeria @actorsguildofnigeria.”

During her campaign, Dayo highlighted her achievements as the former Vice Chairman of the AGN Lagos State chapter, noting that her main motivation has always been to pave the way for better systems and structures within Nollywood.

She vowed to continue this mission in her new role, emphasising her commitment to putting things in place for actors across the Southwest region.

The announcement was met with an outpouring of congratulatory messages from colleagues in the industry. Stars including Seyi Edun, Akin Boss, Funke Etti, Bukky Rabiu, and Abiodun Adebanjo sent their well-wishes in the comments section of her post.

Dayo’s appointment adds to a series of recent leadership developments within AGN. In 2024, Rita Dominic was appointed Director of Investment Business Development, while in 2023, Deyemi Okanlawon and Uche Elendu were appointed Director of Planning Strategy and Special Adviser on SDG Goals, respectively.

Caroline Danjuma also assumed the role of Director of AGN Investment, and veteran actress Rita Edochie was named Women’s Leader/Welfare Officer.

Reflecting on her election, Dayo Amusa expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the industry she has been part of for years, promising to advocate for actors’ welfare, create pathways for emerging talents, and ensure that the Southwest chapter thrives under her leadership.
