“I Didn’t Give Up Music for Marriage” – Simi Addresses Fans Amid Hiatus Speculations

Award-winning singer Simi has shut down rumors that her music career took a backseat after marriage.

Addressing the speculation directly, she dismissed claims that she had abandoned her craft, insisting that she never sacrificed her professional life for her personal one.

The artist emphasized that she remains deeply invested in her music and that her time away from the spotlight was not a result of domestic life.

She described the narrative as unfair and disconnected from the reality of what she was experiencing at the time.

“I really, really, really wanted to drop this song last year,” the singer revealed, recalling how excited she was when she first shared a snippet of the track.

According to her, the enthusiasm was genuine, but circumstances beyond her control made it difficult to follow through as planned.

She explained that the period was physically overwhelming, saying, “It was hard to finish it on time because everything was a blur. I was sick and weak and nauseous and tired and my body just wouldn’t do what I wanted it to.”

Simi disclosed that even the snippet video that fans praised was recorded while she was unwell.

“Even in the snippet video, I wasn’t feeling great. I was just trying my best,” she said, shedding light on the struggle behind what appeared effortless on screen.

Speaking about the collaboration on the song, Simi said she was certain about featuring Chike from the start.

“I adore Chike’s voice and I knew it was him that had to be on the song with me,” she explained.

She praised Chike’s commitment, noting that although he was initially out of town, he showed up immediately after returning.

“As soon as he came back, he came over to my studio the next day,” she said, adding, “I got a lotta respect for him.”

The singer revealed that Chike was unaware of the personal challenges she was facing at the time.

“He didn’t know I was pregnant and suffering,” she admitted, reflecting on how much she endured quietly during the recording process.

Looking back, Simi said she still struggles to understand how she managed to push through.

“Watching this video back now, I can’t even understand where the energy came from,” she confessed.

After recording the song, more challenges followed during post-production.

“When the song was done, I struggled to mix it,” she said, explaining that she eventually decided to handle the mastering herself despite her dislike for the process.

“I hate mastering, so I don’t know what I was thinking.”

Missing the release deadline was especially painful for her.

“I was so disappointed that I couldn’t meet the deadline,” Simi said, noting that fans had already fallen in love with the song and were eager for its release.

She added that she lacked the strength to promote the record properly.

“I didn’t have the energy to make content. I don’t even remember them recording this video,” she said, describing how draining the period was.

Despite everything, Simi emphasised that the song was created with deep emotion and perseverance.

“Please know that a lot of love and resilience went into this song,” she wrote, asking fans to give the song the energy she couldn’t.

The singer addressed critics head-on, saying, “This is a chance for those of you that say I gave up my career for marriage to fight for my rights — that or stfu,” firmly asserting that her music journey is far from over.
