Nigerian striker Akor Adams made a stunning comeback from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scoring twice to salvage a 2-2 draw for Sevilla against Elche on Monday.

Adams, who arrived in Spain just a day after Nigeria’s bronze medal win at AFCON, came off the bench to turn the game around for his team.

Elche had taken a 2-0 lead, with goals from Aleix Febas and Germán Valera, but Adams’ introduction at halftime sparked a remarkable turnaround.

He scored his first goal in the 75th minute, capitalizing on a rebound, and then with a composed finish he converted a penalty in stoppage time to level the score.

Adams’ impressive performance ended Sevilla’s four-game losing streak in all competitions.

His teammate Chidera Ejuke also played a role, coming on in the 65th minute to help secure the draw.

The 25-year-old Adams had an impressive AFCON campaign, scoring two goals and providing two assists in Nigeria’s bronze medal run.

Sevilla coach Matías Almeyda had confirmed Adams and Ejuke would be available for the Elche game after completing their AFCON commitments .
