Terrorists struck the Aqua Triton Company near Ibadan on Saturday, resulting in the death of a police officer and the abduction of a foreign worker.

DSP Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the details in a press statement, praising the fallen officer’s bravery for fighting back during the assault.

Police believe several kidnappers fled the scene with gunshot injuries following the confrontation.

“There was an attack at Aqua Triton Company in Ogunmakin, near Ibadan, where unidentified gunmen stormed the facility in a commando-style operation.

“One police officer tragically died while repelling the attack, injuring some assailants, and the Chinese expatriate principal was abducted,” Olayinka said.

He said Police Commissioner Femi Haruna has ordered the Assistant Commissioner in charge of Operations to lead anti-kidnapping and tactical teams to the scene.

Authorities have initiated intensive bush-combing maneuvers and are continuing their investigations to ensure the safe recovery of the expatriate and the arrest of the suspects, Olayinka said.
