Senator Garba Maidoki, representing Kebbi South, has confirmed that authorities know the location of the schoolgirls recently abducted from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga.

He said on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on Wednesday evening that they are confident the victims remain within the district and expressed optimism for their swift recovery

“We have a fair idea where the girls are, and we are sure they have not moved outside the Kebbi South Senatorial District.

“There is high hope that the girls will return home in one or two days,” Maidoki said.

Persecondnews had reported that the bloody attack occurred on Monday when gunmen stormed the school at night, killing the vice principal who attempted to prevent the abduction of about 25 girls.

The incident has triggered nationwide concern and drawn international attention to worsening insecurity in the country.

The Federal Government had directed security agencies to ensure the swift rescue of the girls.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, visited the affected community on Wednesday, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to securing the students’ release.

Shettima, who arrived in Kebbi alongside APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and other officials, described the incident as tragic and vowed that every necessary government resource would be deployed to recover the girls safely.

The abduction has triggered international concern, with global organizations, including UNICEF, calling for urgent action.

In response, President Tinubu postponed his scheduled foreign trips to South Africa and Angola.

This incident further underscores Nigeria’s persistent crisis of mass kidnappings targeting schools, a pattern that gained global prominence.
