The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Algerian referee Houssam Benyahia to officiate the CAF Champions League first-round second-leg match between Rivers United and FC Les Aigles of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The crucial encounter is set to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital, on Sunday.

Benyahia will be assisted by his compatriots, Hamza Bouzit and Haithem Bouima, who will serve as assistant referees one and two, respectively.

Loutfi Bekouassa has been appointed as the fourth official, while Ghana’s Munkaila Nassam Adam will serve as the match commissioner.

The refereeing crew is expected to ensure a fair and smooth running of the match.

Rivers United and Les Aigles played out a goalless draw in the first leg at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, last weekend.

The stalemate sets the stage for a thrilling return leg in Uyo, where the winner will advance to the second round of the CAF Champions League.

The stakes are high, with the victor set to face either AC Léopards of Congo or Mozambique’s Black Bulls.
