In a major crackdown, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has arrested over 15 people and seized more than N110 million worth of illegal goods.

The agency announced on its official X account on Wednesday, August 27, that it targeted vendors of unregistered, counterfeit, expired, and substandard drugs across the country.

The operations, conducted in Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja, and Asaba, led to the confiscation of various products, including aphrodisiacs, tramadol, morphine, antibiotics, and other pain relief and sexual enhancement medications.

It confirmed that the violators are currently being held in custody while further investigations continue.

Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the agency’s Director-General, reiterated that selling or distributing medicines in unauthorised locations is strictly prohibited and warned that offenders will face severe penalties.

She called on Nigerians to steer clear of drug peddlers, assuring that NAFDAC would continue its clampdown until all violators are held accountable.
