The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that its Continuous Voter Registration portal received more than 26,000 visits in the initial hours of the nationwide exercise, which commenced on Monday, August 18.

The number of hits on the CVR platform at www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, had reached 26,255 as of 12:35 p.m. today.

According to the commission via its official X handle on Monday, “Hits on the Continuous Voter Registration portal (cvr.inecnigeria.org) climb to 26,255 as at 12.35 pm today, Monday 18th August 2025. Register Now.”

Announcing the launch, INEC said: “In-person registration will take place at all its 37 state offices and 774 local government area offices nationwide, to ensure easy access for prospective voters.”

While the online pre-registration is now live, the physical registration phase is set to begin on August 25, 2025, across the country.

The commission clarified that the CVR is open to Nigerians who have turned 18 and have never registered, as well as those seeking to update their voter details, transfer their voting location, or replace lost or damaged PVCs.

“The CVR exercise is open to new voters aged 18 and above, those who wish to collect or transfer their Permanent Voter Cards, and individuals who need to replace lost or damaged PVCs,” INEC said.

INEC also warned against multiple registrations, reminding citizens that violators could face legal consequences.

Encouraging widespread participation, INEC called on citizens to take full advantage of the opportunity.

For inquiries or assistance, INEC urged Nigerians to reach out via its dedicated call centre on 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632) or use the short code 4632.
