Barely two days after President Bola Tinubu brokered peace between suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara and the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, the duo attended on Saturday the burial ceremony of Wike’s uncle.

The public appearance of the two key figures at the funeral, alongside the suspended lawmakers, strongly suggests that peace has indeed been restored to the state, which was once plagued by political turmoil.

The burial of the deceased, Elder Temple Omezurike Onuoha, took place in Rumuepirikom, Rivers State.

Notably, Martin Amaewhule, the suspended Speaker of the State House of Assembly and a known ally of Wike, was also present.

He was seen seated beside Governor Fubara—a first in over a year since the political crisis began.

A post accompanied with several photos shared on Facebook by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, said::” Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, alongside the Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule at the burial of Wike’s Uncle in Rumuepirikom, Rivers State today.”

Persecondnews recalls that after the meeting reconciliation meeting on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Wike had expressed optimism about the future of Rivers State.

He said: “We have all agreed to work together with the governor, and the governor also agreed to work together with all of us. We are members of the same political family.”

Fubara also assured that the crisis was over, lauding President Tinubu for his intervention.
