These Killings Must Stop, 2Baba Laments Benue Butchery

More condemnation has trailed the persistent killings and insecurity in Benue State with Nigerian music legend Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, expressing deep concern over the bloodletting.

Describing the situation as tragic and unacceptable in a recent emotional video shared online, the singer called for urgent intervention by both state and federal authorities.

The Benue-born artiste said he was deeply saddened by the wanton loss of lives in his home state, lamenting that the continuous bloodshed has turned Benue into a land of sorrow.

He urged leaders at all levels not to turn a blind eye to the pain and sufferings of the people, stressing that the situation had become a national emergency.

2Baba, visibly disturbed in the video, noted that it was no longer enough to simply condemn the violence with statements and social media posts.

He insisted that action must be taken immediately to prevent further loss of innocent lives, calling on both government officials and citizens to work together to end the bloodshed.

“Too many people have died. Too many families have been destroyed. Haba! This cannot continue,” he said, pleading with relevant stakeholders to rise above politics and tribal sentiments in addressing the insecurity crisis.

“Benue people are crying. Nigeria should listen.”

The music star’s outburst sparked mixed reactions on social media.

While many commended him for speaking out, others criticized the delivery of his message.

One user, @obakese1, wrote: “Why not compose yourself and say something reasonable before posting online than just saying haba haba in a video.”

Persecondnews recalls that this is not the first time 2Baba has spoken up about issues affecting his home state.

In the past, he has consistently used his platform to call attention to social justice, humanitarian crises, and governance challenges across Nigeria.

“This pain is real,” he said. “Enough is enough.”
