Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Special Adviser on Political Matters in the Office of Vice President Kashim Shettima, has stepped down from his position.

According to presidency sources, Baba-Ahmed, who previously served as the spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), submitted his resignation about two weeks ago, citing personal grounds.

Persecondnews recalls that Baba-Ahmed was appointed to his role in September 2023 and has since represented the Presidency at various occasions including a national conference on strengthening Nigeria’s democracy in January 2025.

Sketchy details of Dr. Baba-Ahmed’s resignation letter reveal that he cited personal reasons for his decision to step down.

However, the Presidency has yet to confirm whether his resignation has been formally accepted.

Baba-Ahmed’s resignation comes on the heels of Ajuri Ngelale’s departure, who previously served as Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, stepping down on September 7, 2024.
