The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to ensure the safe rescue of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was kidnapped on February 17, 2025, while travelling to Abuja.

The IGP has directed the team to prioritize Ojajuni’s safe rescue, according to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

Adejobi assured citizens of the police’s commitment to securing Ojajuni’s release by deploying all necessary resources and expertise.

“The IGP commends the bravery and swift action of these gallant officers who have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens,” he said.

The police are urging Nigerians to exercise caution and refrain from sharing unverified information about the incident on social media, as it can jeopardize the operation and endanger the victim’s safety.

In a related development, the police said they have recorded successes in their operations in February.

In Taraba State, operatives raided a suspected criminal hideout, leading to the arrest of 20 suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, among other items.

In Oyo State, a swift response by tactical teams led to the rescue of three kidnap victims and the arrest of one of the kidnappers.

Persecondnews recalls that the National President of the Afenifere National Youth Council, Prince Eniola Ojajuni, made a desperate appeal to Nigerians to help raise the N100 million ransom demanded by kidnappers who have threatened to kill him by 3 pm on Monday.

A viral video circulating on Monday showed the distressed Afenifere youth leader pleading for his life.

In the footage, a kidnapper is seen pointing an AK-47 at Ojajuni’s chest as he begs the public for financial assistance to secure his release.

“Nigerians, please help me! Your donation — N100,000, N50,000, or N1,000,000 — can go a long way in saving my life,” he pleaded in the video.

“My name is Prince Eniola Ojajuni. God bless you. Aderohunmu, please help me spread this video.”

The situation has sparked widespread concern as the deadline approaches, with many Nigerians calling for urgent action to ensure Ojajuni’s safety.
