Nigerian music star, Davido, and his team who were optimistic about clinching a Grammy award at the prestigious ceremony held in Los Angeles, US, on Sunday, displayed graciousness and humility, earning the singer admiration for his sportsmanlike conduct.

Davido’s reaction to the outcome has garnered attention, reflecting his maturity and grace in the face of disappointment, reports Persecondnews.
The 67th Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, saw fierce competition among African artists.

One of the highlights was Nigerian singer Tems clinching the Best African Music Performance category for her hit song, Love Me, Jeje.

Her victory was met with widespread applause both locally and internationally.

Tems triumphed over strong contenders, including Yemi Alade’s Tomorrow, Asake’s MMS, Chris Brown and Davido’s Sensational, and Burna Boy’s Higher. Despite the stiff competition, Tems emerged victorious, solidifying her status as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated artists.

Notably, Tems had received three nominations at this year’s Grammys, bringing her career tally to eight nominations.

Her win in the Best African Music Performance category marks her second Grammy victory, having previously won the Best Melodic Rap Performance in 2023 for her collaboration on Wait for U with Future and Drake.

In a gesture that resonated with fans and fellow artistes alike, Davido took to his Instagram and Twitter pages to celebrate Tems’ achievement.

His heartfelt message dispelled any speculations of rivalry, emphasising camaraderie within the Nigerian music industry.

Davido tweeted, “Congratulations to my one and only 🐐 ! @chrisbrown ! And to the Queen @temsbaby we are proud of you!”

His post not only acknowledged Tems’ victory but also celebrated his close friend Chris Brown, who was also a nominee.

This public display of support from Davido underlined his commitment to uplifting fellow artists, regardless of personal outcomes.

It reflects a broader trend in the Nigerian music scene, where artists increasingly celebrate each other’s successes on global platforms.

Fans and industry insiders praised Davido’s gracious reaction, highlighting it as a testament to his character and leadership within the Afrobeats movement.

His message has since gone viral, drawing admiration for promoting unity and positive vibes.
