20 years after, Bukky Wright returns to Nollywood, says she is ready to take new roles

After a nearly two-decade hiatus, veteran actress Bukky Wright is set to make a grand return to the Nollywood film industry, exciting fans and colleagues alike.

Having spent over 15 years in the Diaspora, the beloved actress is eager to reconnect with her roots and has promised fans that this return marks a permanent chapter in her illustrious career.

Wright recently opened up about her plans to take on significant roles in the Nigerian film industry, signaling her renewed commitment to the craft.

Her return has been met with excitement, as she aims to make a lasting impact in a rapidly evolving industry.

Reflecting on her experience back on set, Wright expressed immense gratitude to the director Bukola Ogunsola, whose latest project gave her the opportunity to re-engage with Nollywood.

“It felt really good. It actually gave me the opportunity to see all these people again. I haven’t seen them in years,” she said, sharing the joy of reuniting with colleagues.

Taking a nearly two-decade hiatus might seem like a daunting challenge, but for Wright, acting is a passion that never fades.

She views her talent as a natural gift, something deeply ingrained in her being.

“Although I take on minor roles, I’ll tell you one thing: if it’s inbuilt, then it’s inbuilt. Nothing can take it away from you,” she explained.

Her performance in the recently released film Something About the Briggs serves as a testament to her enduring talent.

Wright’s ability to step seamlessly into her roles, even after such a long break, underscores her skill and dedication to her craft.

Far from a brief appearance, Wright has vowed to remain in Nigeria to further her acting career.

On her plans, she revealed: “I’ll stay. I’m going to do more movies in Nigeria here during my stay. I have more projects coming, and I’m here to stay.”

Her words have reassured fans of her long-term commitment to the industry.

The actress acknowledges that much has changed in Nollywood since her departure.

The industry has grown significantly in terms of storytelling, production quality, and international recognition.

However, Wright is confident that her wealth of experience and love for the craft will enable her to adapt seamlessly to this new era.

Reuniting with familiar faces has been another highlight of her return.

Wright spoke fondly about the camaraderie and warmth she has experienced while reconnecting with colleagues she has not seen in years.
