In an interview monitored by Per Second News, she admitted she loves the idea of marriage but remains fearful of it, particularly because she doesn’t want her children to grow up outside wedlock, as she did.
Reflecting on her childhood, she disclosed that her father had numerous children, many of whom she only discovered later in life, even encountering some online.
“I love marriage, but at the same time, I am scared of it because I don’t want a situation where I’ll have my kids outside wedlock,” Kiitan shared.
“There are some of my father’s children that I don’t know. The funny thing is I met some online. I didn’t have a father’s care the way I wanted it—like I wanted that parental love, father and mother together. Let me enjoy my home. It hurts me most of the time because I didn’t really enjoy it.”
The actress delved deeper into her struggles, expressing how much it pained her to miss out on the fatherly love and guidance she longed for.
Growing up without this foundation shaped her perspective on relationships and the family structure she aspires to create.
In recounting her childhood, Kiitan opened up about her hardships, including hawking food to make ends meet.
“I used to hawk pounded yam and efo back in the days. I would wake up at 3:30 am because we had to take it to Sabo in Ondo State,” she said, painting a vivid picture of resilience amid adversity.
Her fear of marriage is also linked to a desire to avoid repeating her past mistakes. A few weeks ago, Kiitan addressed her failed engagement to her ex-fiancé, Kingsley.
She clarified rumors that she insulted her mother-in-law, recounting instead how she caught her fiancé with another woman during a vulnerable time when he was sick. To her dismay, his mother sided with him, deepening the heartbreak.
