A heavy security presence has been deployed at the National Assembly complex in anticipation of President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the 2025 budget to a joint session of lawmakers.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio is expected to preside over the joint session alongside the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen.

As of 8:00 am, senators and members of the House of Representatives have begun arriving at the National Assembly Complex, specifically the Green Chamber, in preparation for the highly anticipated joint session.

In addition to the heightened security presence, the National Assembly management has also ordered the closure of all business operations and ancillary services, including banks and food vendors, within the complex for the duration of today’s joint session.

Visitors and nonessential staff members of the Assembly have been directed to stay away from the complex until after President Tinubu’s budget presentation today.

Only accredited staff members with essential duties and a select group of journalists will be permitted to report to work and cover the event, respectively.

Persecondnews recalls that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved a whopping N47.96 trillion expenditure for the 2025 fiscal year on Monday, marking a significant 36.8% increase from the 2024 budget.
