Exclusive: Lookman’s Morocco Arrival Tonight Sets Stage for Highly Anticipated CAF Awards

191

Nigerian football star Ademola Lookman is anticipated to arrive in Morocco tonight, in preparation for the forthcoming CAF Awards ceremony.

Barring any unforeseen changes, Lookman’s arrival is eagerly awaited by fans and officials alike.

A high-ranking security personnel in Marrakech, speaking exclusively to Persecondnews correspondent, revealed that Lookman’s initial flight itinerary had him arriving in Morocco a day earlier.

However, it appears that his travel plans have been adjusted, with tonight now expected to be his arrival time.

As of the time of filing this report, Lookman’s whereabouts were unknown, and he had not responded to calls and messages.

Lookman’s impressive performance in the Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored three goals and provided two assists, has made him the favourite to win the award.

His achievements are unmatched by the other nominees, including Ivorian Simon Adingra, who, against all odds, the hosts of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023, Ivory Coast, managed to lift the trophy after claiming a comeback victory over Nigeria in the final with goals from Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller.

Although his performance in the final was not the most talked about, Brighton winger Adingra has been a key player in the Ivorians’ run to AFCON glory, including two assists in the final against the Nigerians.

Guinean Serhou Guirassy, the 28-year-old, was a potent force in the final third and a wrecking ball smashing through defence with ease.

Last season at VfB Stuttgart, he smashed Mario Gómez’s 19-year club record for most goals in a single Bundesliga campaign.

More impressive than that was the fact that his 28 attempts put him second in Europe’s top five leagues, ahead of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, and behind only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.

South African Ronwen Williams and Moroccan Achraf Hakimi complete the five finalists for the coveted award.

Persecondnews reports that Nigerian delegates at the awards have been cautioned against over-jubilation in the event that Lookman wins the award.

The ceremony is expected to take place tonight, and all eyes will be on Lookman as he vies for the top honour.
