Marriage not for everyone—Nkcehi Blessing

373

Controversial Nigerian actress, Nkechi Blessing is in the news again—this time addressing why marriage is not for everyone, especially those in the public eye.

The outspoken actress shared her thoughts during a recent interview monitored by Per Seconds News on Tuesday, highlighting the challenges of maintaining a marital relationship under the glaring scrutiny of fame.

According to Nkechi, marriage is a deeply personal commitment that requires emotional readiness and mutual understanding, qualities that can be challenging to sustain when living in the spotlight.

She said societal expectations often pressure celebrities into unions they might not be prepared for, leading to conflicts and eventual breakups.

“Marriage isn’t something you just do because people are watching or because you feel it’s the next step,” she stated.

“It’s a lifelong journey that needs genuine love and trust to thrive, and for us in the public eye, it’s even more complicated.”

The actress further explained that the constant intrusion of fans and critics into private matters often adds unnecessary strain to celebrity marriages.

From assumptions to rumours, she noted, public commentary can easily destabilize even the strongest relationships.

Nkechi also addressed the growing trend of public figures divorcing shortly after tying the knot.

While acknowledging that not all marriages end due to external pressures, she argued that many fail because people enter them for the wrong reasons, such as societal validation or a desire to trend online.

“Marriage is not an achievement; it’s a choice.

“It’s better to stay single and happy than to rush into something that will bring you endless drama and heartbreak,” she said.

Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions on social media.

While some fans applauded her for speaking her truth and shedding light on the challenges of celebrity life, others accused her of promoting a negative narrative about marriage.

Critics argued that her perspective might discourage young people from believing in the institution of marriage.

Nkechi, however, remains unbothered by the backlash, reiterating that her focus is on sharing her reality, not pleasing everyone.

This isn’t the first time Nkechi Blessing has stirred controversy with her views on relationships.

Known for her candid demeanor, the actress has frequently shared her experiences with love and heartbreak, which she believes have influenced her current outlook.
