Kylian Mbappe, the French international footballer, is being investigated by Swedish police for alleged rape and sexual harassment during his visit to Stockholm between October 9-11.
Mbappe, who denies the allegations, stayed at the Bank Hotel in the city centre with friends.
On October 10, the police received a formal complaint alleging a rape at the hotel, which sparked the investigation.
Expressen, a Swedish newspaper, asserts that Mbappe has a reasonable suspicion of rape and sexual assault despite not having an official suspect designation.
Mbappe’s itinerary that night included dinner at Chez Jolie restaurant, a visit to the V nightclub, and a return to his hotel in a black van with his entourage.
Police have interviewed hotel staff to determine which rooms and areas Mbappe’s group used, with CCTV cameras expected to play a crucial role in the probe.
The forensic investigators were seen carrying out several brown paper bags as they exited the hotel, but police and prosecutors have remained tight-lipped on updates.
Mbappe blasted initial reports as “fake news” on X, suggesting a link to his dispute with former club Paris Saint-Germain over £46 million in unpaid wages and bonuses.
His entourage also denied the allegations, calling them “completely false and irresponsible” and vowed to take legal action against those involved in “moral harassment and defamatory treatment.”
