Speaker Abbas Performs Groundbreaking Ceremony for NFF’s Players’ Hostel, Training Pitches

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has flagged off the construction of 62 single rooms, four suites, two executive suites and two new training pitches at the Package B, MKO Abiola Stadium Complex in Abuja.

The groundbreaking ceremony was performed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, who commended the NFF for their efforts in developing football infrastructure in the country.

“This project will have a far-reaching effect on the development of sport in the country, it will bring a lot of savings in terms of expenditure and also income to enhance football efficiency in Nigeria,” Abbas said.

He also assured the NFF of the House of Representatives’ support, saying that “we will collaborate in every way possible in ensuring that this project is completed in good time.”

NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, who welcomed the guests, noted that the project marks a new era in football development in Nigeria, aligning with global best practices.

“This is one of the legacy projects that I was determined to push with my executives right from the day we were sworn into office in 2022. Today marks the beginning of a new era in Nigeria football,” Gusau said.

The project, funded by FIFA’s Forward Program, aims to provide a conducive environment for players and officials to excel.

Gusau pointed out the importance of investing in football infrastructure, stating that “for sustained success of our football in the continent and the global stage, it is imperative for us to provide the conducive environment, infrastructure, equipment, and support system that will allow players and officials give their very best”.

Former Nigerian international, Mutiu Adepoju, applauded the NFF for its efforts in developing infrastructure and providing a favorable environment for young talents to thrive.
