Anthony Joshua handed 28-day suspension after devastating KO loss to Daniel Dubois

1k

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been suspended for 28 days by the British Boxing Board of Control following his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium.

Joshua, 34, suffered a brutal loss, hitting the canvas three times before Dubois delivered the final blow in the fifth round. This marks Joshua’s fourth career defeat.

The suspension, a standard procedure for fighters who suffer TKO or KO losses, is unlikely to impact Joshua’s immediate plans, as no future fights have been scheduled.

Former boxer Carl Froch questioned Joshua’s desire to continue boxing, stating, “I don’t think AJ wants it anymore; he shouldn’t be boxing. That performance was weak.”

Joshua responded, expressing determination to reclaim the world title, saying, “We came up short, but… we have to focus on all the positives… The problem is that it’s far from over yet.”

The loss has sparked debate about Joshua’s boxing future, with some calling for his retirement.

Joshua remains resolute, thanking fans and emphasizing his achievements: “Look at what we’ve achieved in 11 years; it’s phenomenal.”

The suspension and loss have raised questions about Joshua’s next steps, but the former champion says he remains committed to reclaiming the world title.
