President Bola Tinubu on Thursday hosted Edo State governor-elect, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, following his victory in the September 21 governorship election.

Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and several party governors, including Hope Uzodimma of Imo, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara, and Senator Adams Oshiomhole of the Edo North Senatorial District, welcomed Okpebholo.

The meeting comes after Okpebholo’s victory in the Edo State governorship election, where he secured 291,667 votes, defeating his closest competitor, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes.

Tinubu congratulated Okpebholo on his victory, describing it as a reflection of the people’s support for the APC.

He advised Okpebholo to remain humble in victory and reach out to his rivals to unite Edo State for its development.

Other notable attendees at the meeting include Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), as well as Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu.
