Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has disclosed that new signing Mikel Merino will be out for a few weeks after injuring his shoulder in his first training session.
According to Persecondnews, Merino completed his £31.6 million move from Real Sociedad to the Gunners this week.
Arteta, speaking to the media on Friday, revealed that the midfielder collided with a teammate, resulting in a “small fracture” that will keep him out for a “few weeks” and will not be available for the visit of Brighton.
He said: “He has a shoulder injury, and it looks like he will be out for a few weeks. He landed on the floor, and Gabi landed on top of him; it’s probably a fracture.”
Arsenal will be looking for their third straight win to start the season when they welcome the high-flying Seagulls in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Mikel Arteta gunners have kept two clean sheets in their opening fixtures and scored four goals in the same process; they will be looking to keep the momentum up against Fabian Hurzeler’s Seagulls.
