I’m on a holistic journey to shrink my fibroids—Ini Dima-Okojie

Nollywood actress Ini Dima-Okojie, who recently opened up about her health struggles, has now revealed that she has given up bread, meat, and other foods in a bid to shrink her fibroids.

The actress, who had previously undergone surgery to remove fibroids in 2020, shared that the condition has unfortunately returned.

This time, however, Okojie is opting for a more holistic approach, determined to manage the situation without going through another invasive surgery.

Okojie explained that she has embarked on a special fibroid diet, which requires her to eliminate certain foods from her meals.

“I’m on a holistic journey to shrink my fibroids,” she said.

“This means I have to follow a strict diet, and some of the things I had to give up include red meat like lamb, cow, ram, and goat meat.

“Even sausages and processed meats are off the table. I’ve also had to cut out white carbs, including my beloved rice, white pasta, and bread,” she added.

The dietary changes don’t stop there. The actress revealed that she also had to remove dairy products and processed foods from her meals.

“I had to give up dairy, which includes cheese and milk, and refined sugar found in cookies, cakes, and condiments,” she continued.

“Processed food in general is out, as well as carbonated drinks and caffeine.”

Okojie clarified that they didn’t make the decision to eliminate these foods lightly.

She emphasised that these items are high in oestrogen, which can contribute to fibroid growth.

“Sodium and anything high in salt are on the no-go list too. All these foods can make the fibroids grow, and I’m avoiding them for that reason.”

The actress’s decision comes after she made the heartbreaking announcement that her fibroids had returned.

In a video shared in July, Okojie acknowledged the emotional toll of this setback.

She confessed that receiving the news was difficult and admitted that she had been struggling to cope with the reality of facing the condition again.

Despite the emotional challenges, Okojie said she remained firm in her resolve to avoid surgery.

She expressed her desire to manage the fibroids through non-invasive methods this time around.

In her candid update, Okojie also touched on the importance of emotional and mental well-being during her health journey.
