Controversial Nigerian street-hop artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has raised eyebrows with a startling revelation about his relationship with Grammy-winning singer, Burna Boy.
According to the “Zazuu” crooner, Burna Boy has been ignoring his calls and messages despite recently gifting him a whopping N20million.
Portable made this revelation during an Instagram Live session on Monday, expressing a mix of gratitude and frustration.
He said the unexpected gesture of generosity from Burna Boy came shortly after his boxing match victory over fellow entertainer, Speed Darlington, over the weekend.
The match, which attracted attention online, saw Portable emerge victorious in what many described as an entertaining clash of eccentric personalities.
“I no fit lie, I be winner. After I beat Speed Darlington, Burna Boy bless me with 20 million naira. I happy die. But now, e no dey pick my calls again. I send am message, e no reply. I dey reason say wetin I do?” Portable lamented during the live session.
The singer, known for his dramatic antics and unfiltered commentary, said the silence from Burna Boy has left him feeling abandoned.
While he appreciated the monetary gift, he expressed a desire for a more sustained relationship or mentorship with the Afrobeats superstar.
“Money no be everything. I still need advice, guidance. I dey look up to am. No be say you go give me money, then ghost me. I still be upcoming, make he no leave me for street,” he added emotionally.
Portable, who has had a history of controversial outbursts and public rants, insisted that his concern was not rooted in entitlement but rather in the hope that the gesture from Burna Boy would open doors for collaboration and friendship.
He also hinted at reaching out multiple times without any success.
“Na respect I dey give am. I call am, I message am, e no answer. I no be person wey go use person finish throway. I get loyalty, but make dem no play with my feelings,” he stated.
He further explained that the 20 million naira came as a surprise, and although it greatly boosted his confidence and visibility, he had hoped it would mark the beginning of a closer bond with Burna Boy.
“I no expect am. When I hear say Burna Boy send me 20 million, I dey shock. I talk say ‘Finally, God don remember me through Odogwu.’ But now, e be like say na just one-time help.”
Despite the disappointment, Portable still held Burna Boy in high regard, praising him for his talent and generosity.
He, however, pleaded for acknowledgment and connection, emphasizing that he meant no harm.
