After 11 days, Mrs. Onyemaechi, abducted ex-Reps member, freed

After spending about 11 days in the kidnappers’ den, Mrs. Joan Onyemaechi, a former member of the House of Representatives from Delta State, regained her freedom on Friday night.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed the release of the state’s ex-lawmaker and former Commissioner for Technical Education.

Persecondnews recalls that Onyemaechi was kidnapped on Tuesday, July 30, while attending a church service off DBS Road in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, in a violent attack.

Gunmen fatally shot her police escort and her driver.

The kidnappers has demanded hundreds of millions of naira as ransom.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed to our correspondent on Saturday morning that Onyemaechi’s abductors freed her on Friday night.

“Yes, she was released last night,” he said on the telephone.
