The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, through its retail outlets and partners, has inaugurated 12 CNG stations strategically located in Abuja and Lagos to accelerate the decarbonization process in Nigeria.

According to Persecondnews, the NNPC Retail Limited (NRL) commissioned six CNG stations across Abuja, located in Sector Centre C District: Airport Road, Kubwa, Garuda, Olusegun Obasanjo Way, Zone 1, Dei-Dei Junction, and Gwagwalada.

Mr. Huub Stokman, the Managing Director of NRL, stated in his welcome address on Thursday that “CNG is the way to go” and that it will be 40 percent cheaper than PMS.

He said: “This CNG station represents a major milestone in Nigeria’s conversion to clean energy.

“In the next 12 months, 100 stations will be launched, and we are also setting up a mechanical training site which will include a CNG conversion workshop.”

The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Mele Kyari, said the journey to CNG is “irreversible” and assured Nigerians of accessibility, affordability, and sustainability.

He said: “The journey to CNG is irreversible. I thank President Tinubu for giving us the push. Between now and December, we aim to launch six more CNGs aimed at bringing gas closer to the final consumers.

“We will give you the energy for today and tomorrow; this is a national objective of getting things done for Nigerians.”

The Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Mr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, in his speech, urged Nigerians to be patient with President Tinubu, stating that “Nigeria of tomorrow will be better than today.”
