A train travelling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed at Asha station on Wednesday in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), leaving dozens of passengers stranded.

According to a passenger, the train went off the tracks at approximately 3:52 p.m., just 28 minutes after departing from Kubwa station in Abuja.

He said:“Passengers are currently stranded as there are no signs of authorities being notified.”

Persecondnews recalls that this is the second time in two weeks that the train has run off its tracks.

On May 26, a train heading from Kaduna’s Rigasa station to Abuja derailed in a mountainous area near Jere, causing three carriages to derail, but miraculously, no one was hurt.

Security personnel swiftly arrived at the scene to offer assistance and guarantee the safety of the numerous stranded passengers.
