After 27 months in prison, suspended Deputy Police Commissioner Abba Kyari has been released from the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.

This followed the ruling of a Federal High Court in Abuja that granted Kyari two weeks bail.

The court said the two-week bail was to allow Kyari to return home to conclude his mother’s burial rites.

Following his arrest on February 14, 2022, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) filed drug-related charges, and the court set Friday, May 31, for the determination of his bail application in the trial.

Adamu Duza, the spokesperson for the FCT Command of the NCoS, confirmed Kyari’s release after he fulfilled his bail requirements.

Duza said:“DCP Kyari has perfected his bail conditions and has since been released today.”

According to Persecondnews, Kyari’s mother passed away on May 5, 2024, and Abba is the eldest son.
