Amid the emirship tussle, the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, paid a visit to the National Security Adviser, Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, in his office in Abuja on Thursday.
Sharing a picture from the event on his X account, Gov. Yusuf said: “I had a fruitful engagement with the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, this afternoon in Abuja.”
Persecondnews recalls that the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, on May 25 accused Ribadu of facilitating the return of Ado Bayero, the dethroned Emir of Kano, to the palace by providing him with two private jets.
Gwarzo had said: “The National Security Adviser gave two jets to bring the dethroned Emir to Kano and to bring him to the palace. We have not understood their intention.”
Reacting to the accusation, Ribadu, through his spokesperson, Zakari Mijinyawa, described the allegation as untrue and threatened to sue Gwarzo.
“I read the comments on social media; it is untrue. The NSA did not provide air transport to anyone to Kano.
“Political actors should desist from misinforming the public as law enforcement officials in the state strive to maintain peace and order,” he said.
Later, the Deputy Governor withdrew his statement, claiming that Ribadu had misled them into thinking that Emir Bayero had returned to Kano State.
He said:”We apologize to the National Security Adviser, his person, and his office for any embarrassment and inconveniences this might have caused him.
“We are human and can err at any time. On my behalf and as the Governor of Kano State, I want to assure the NSA of our continued support and cooperation in discharging his duty as the NSA.
