With a devastating second-round knockout of Francis Ngannou, Anthony Joshua made it clear to the world that he still had the strength and drive to reclaim the heavyweight title.
What a declaration from the previous global victor. Ngannou, the former heavyweight champion of Cameroon, was up at eight on the referee’s count after Joshua stunned and dropped him with a big right hand down the pipe in the opening stanza, reports Persecondnews.
Joshua dominated the entire short dance.
While Joshua was cautiously avoiding the ring, Ngannou changed to a southpaw stance and looked to land both his left and right hooks. The Briton then attacked with his most potent right hand.
Joshua came out for the second round, double-jabbered, and used level shifts and feints to keep Ngannou at bay without being overly cautious or greedy.
Two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua appeared to be in total control as the second round progressed.
He knocked Ngannou down with a hook over the top at eight, and then knocked him out again with a right hand after his opponent had hit the canvas.
