As part of efforts to address housing deficits in Ogun State, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has embarked on the development of housing estates in Abeokuta, the state capital, and the Sagamu interchange.

Known as Olumo Court, the first phase is located at 48/50 Aduke Ayorinde Street in the highbrow Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara.

The Olowu of Owu, Oba (Prof.) Saka Matemilola, and Towulade of Akinale, Oba (Dr.) Olufemi Ogunleye, joined Obasanjo, who is the Balogun of Owu Abeokuta, on a Monday inspection visit to the housing project site.

The Olumo Court, aimed at boosting socio-economic development, is designed to contain studio, single-bedroom, and double-bedroom apartments with recreational facilities such as a swimming pool, squash courts, coffee shops, meeting rooms, refuse chutes, internal roads, and 24-hour security.

Construction has reached an advanced stage at the Olumo Court Estate, where Obasanjo and his entourage met site engineers, architects, and others.

The officials who conducted the chief promoter of the project and his team around the site, said a high-grade replica of the Olumo Court will start at a location near the premises of the defunct Top Beer Brewery at Olomore in Abeokuta.

The third estate will commence at the Sagamu interchange on the Abeokuta-Sagamu highway.
