Veteran actor, Emeka Ike, has opened up about a prolonged period of battling depression, navigating turbulent marital waters, and facing a career downturn within the Nollywood industry.
The actor, who was absent from screens for a considerable time, shared his story on the Rubbin’ Minds show hosted by Hero Daniels and monitored by Per Second News on Sunday.
Ike disclosed that his hiatus was a consequence of grappling with personal challenges during his marital struggles and adapting to the industry’s transition from VCD to larger screens.
The actor, along with some colleagues, felt excluded from the evolving landscape, impacting the demand for their talents.
Notably, Ike’s marriage which was dissolved by a Lagos Island Customary Court in 2015 due to alleged incessant battering, added to the actor’s tumultuous journey.
In a surprise twist, Ike revealed that his absence from the limelight was accompanied by life-threatening situations as he faced threats from assassins and gunmen with no apparent motive.
However, the seasoned actor has successfully made a triumphant return to Nollywood, marking his comeback with a role in Toyin Abraham’s upcoming movie, ‘Malaika.’
Ike attributed his resurgence to a commitment to personal growth and perseverance in the face of adversities.
