Just in: Suspended CBN Gov. Emefiele’s arraignment in Abuja stalled

1.1k

The scheduled arraignment of the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, on Thursday at an Abuja Federal High Court has been stalled.

Emefiele, who was brought to court on Thursday morning could not be arraigned because of the absence of the second defendant,  Sa’adatu Yaro, a Director of CBN and contractor of the apex bank.
Yaro’s counsel claimed that “she took ill this morning” and therefore, could not make it to the court.
The lawyer asked for a new date for her appearance in court which the prosecutors, the Department of State Services (DSS) did not oppose.

A fresh date, August 23, 2023 has been fixed for the arraignment of the duo of Emefiele and Yaro before Justice Muazu Hamza.
