NPA MD/CEO, Bello-Koko bags 2022 Champion Newspapers’ “Maritime Icon of the Year Award”

The Managing Director/CEO of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mr Mohammed Bello Koko has been conferred with the 2022 Champion Newspapers’ “Maritime Icon of the Year Award”.

Persecondnews reports that the award was conferred on him by the Publisher and Editorial Board of Daily Champion Newspapers.

Prof. Garba Dambatta, the CEO of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) presented the award on behalf of Champion newspapers on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to the organizers, the award is in recognition of Bello-Koko’s fast track of the approval processes leading to the operationalization of Nigeria’s first deep seaport, unprecedented revenue generation and remittances to consolidated revenue fund, port infrastructure renewal, milestone steps towards the deployment of the Port Community System (PCS) to lay the groundwork for the National Single Window.

The newspaper said all the initiatives of Bello-Koko had helped to tackle the challenge of duplicity of functions and attendant delays in the Ports and facilitation of the renewed export orientation of the Federal Government and efforts towards increased utilization of ports in the eastern region.
