Septuagenarian children defiler busted

A 70-year-old hermit, Usman Ibrahim, is now cooling his heels in police custody for allegedly defiling two minors of ages
four and seven years of the same parents in Adamawa State.

Ibrahim, who has been living a solitary life since he separated from his wife about 10 years ago, committed the offences at Ajiya Street, Jimeta in Yola North area of the state.

The randy old man, Persecondnews learnt, was said to have lured the kids into his room while on their way to an after-school lesson before defiling them.

The father of the victims, who observed unusual pains being experienced by the kids while urinating, reported the incident to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Jimeta.

Confirming the incident, the Police Command spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said on Saturday in Yola: “Adamawa State Police Command, on April 4, apprehended a 70-year-old man for raping two minors at Jimeta, Yola North local government area.

“The suspect is said to have lured the two victims into his room, a close distance from the victims, and took advantage of them while on their way to a lesson class and had unlawful carnal knowledge of them.

“The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Jimeta, by the father of the victims, having observed unusual pains from the kids while urinating.”

Nguroje said preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect is a father of three and now leaving alone after he separated from his wife 10 years ago.

According to him, State Police Commissioner Afolabi Babatola has already ordered a thorough and clinical investigation into the incident.

The CP has also directed the officer in charge of Family Support Unit of the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.

He advised members of the public, particularly parents to be very watchful and vigilant over of their kids to guide against criminally-minded people, who may want to take advantage of their children and wards and report such elements to the Police.

Babatola also called on the people particularly parents to key into the Command’s fight against all forms of gender-based violence and promised to prosecute perpetrators in accordance with the extant laws.
