The daughter of the Presidential hopeful for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hauwa Atiku-Uwais, has said her father’s industrialization and privatization agenda for the nation is the way to go to reduce dependency on oil.
It is also a sure way towards diversifying the economy.
Atiku-Uwais, who appeared on Channels TV on Tuesday, highlighted the importance of the public-private partnership (PPP) which she believed will open up the economy and boost revenue generation.
“In his covenant with Nigerians, he (Atiku) has consistently spoken about industrialization and privatization.
“When you open up the space for the private sector to come in, we will have industries that can work, we have industries that generate money, pay taxes to the government, and enable the government to take care of its own business, diverting from the typical oil industry (dependence).
“For me, liberalization and privatization will open up the space for public-private partnerships with government and will enable the government to concentrate on what the government should concentrate on which is regularization and implementation and providing enabling environment for businesses to thrive,” she said.
She also said Atiku Abubakar is a champion in privatization and industrialization and the difference will be clear if he is given the chance.
She added: “Once the economy is open, you and I will see a fantastic difference and my father is a champion of that and he has said it over and over in his campaigns over the years and this has not changed.”
