Buenos Aires erupts as triumphant Argentina team’s plane touches down from Qatar

Thousands of excited fans stormed the Ezeiza International airport at about 2.17am local time on Tuesday to welcome Leo Scolani Argentina team back home.

The World Cup champions landed after about a 21-hour flight to tumultuous and rousing

After an high octave final at Lusial stadium which saw Argentina defeating France on penalties, Lionel Messi and Argentina were greeted with a heroic welcome in Buenos Aires.

Over 176,000 fans were following the plane on a tracking app in the middle of the night as the flight home was due to land at 2:17am local time.

Argentina clinched their third world cup title after a topsy-turvy start in Qatar 2022.

Lionel Messi, who emerged from the plane first, followed closely by Lionel Scolani, lifted the cup triumphantly into the air with thousands of Argentina fans going buck wild.

 

 

Celebrations in Argentina are showing no signs of slowing down, as fans created a carnival atmosphere, singing and playing drums after thier conquest in the world cup.

Lionel Messi wasn’t only breaking record on the pitch, after becoming the only in world cup history with the most appearance in world cup history, 26 or most man of the match awards at a single world cup tournament, five, only behind Wesley Sneijder, four.

44-year-old Leo Scolani, who was appointed caretaker manager in 2018, and in November 2018, he was confirmed and Scolani is the first ever Argentina manager to win the Copa America and World cup.

History maker Lionel Scolani and Lionel Messi were team mates during the 2006 World Cup, 16 years later, the duo become the first manager and the first captain in Argentina history to lift the Copa America and World cup.
