APC Presidential Primary: Watertight security at Eagles Square, six aspirants in the lead

All is now set for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential primary in Abuja holding from Monday, June 6 to June 7 at the Eagle’s Square with six aspirants in the lead, Persecondnews reports.

They are Vice-President Yemi Osibanjo; former Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, Ebonyi Gov. Dave Umahi; former Lagos Gov. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and ex-Minister of State for Education, Chief Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.

The Eagles Square is expected to host about 2,240 delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Expectedly, the influx of people into the FCT has increased, a development that has attracted more police presence at the Eagles Square and some hotels hosting the delegates and chieftains of the APC.

Ahead of the event, the party’s National Chairman, Sen.Abdullahi Adamu on Sunday visited the Eagles Square where he expressed satisfaction with the facilities put in place by the planing Committee.

In the area of security, the FCT Police Command has assured of watertight security in and around Eagle Square.

A Police statement said: “To effectively police the territory within the period in view and beyond, an all-encompassing security deployment has been made.

“Notable amongst the apparatus of this security arrangement is the emplacement of traffic diversions at strategic places around the event ground as follows;

“The deployment is also characterized by heavy visibility policing as would be witnessed at the various traffic control points to aid the free flow of traffic, Stop and search, and vehicular and foot patrol among many others.’

FCT Police Commissioner of Babaji Sunday while registering the command’s unflinching commitment to the sustenance of the relative peace and tranquility enjoyed and a boost in the onward march against crime and criminality in the territory, urged all and sundry to shun all forms of violence in the period and beyond.
