Two days after Zamfara ex-Governor Abdulaziz Yari, and Senator Kabiru Marafa, defected from APC to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung in President Muhammadu Buhari administration first term, has dumped the All Progressives Congress.
Dalung submitted his letter of resignation from the APC to the Ward Chairman of the party in SabonGida Ward, Langtang South council area of Plateau State.
The letter dated April 1, 2022, read, “This is to convey my withdrawal of membership from the All Progressives Congress with effect from the date of this notice.
“It is worthy of mention that recent developments in the party conflict with my core principles of values which define the basis of allegiance to the party.
“Of note is the fact that internal democracy is critical to the survival of representative democracy without which political participation remains a mirage.”
Persecondnews recalls that Dalung had in February 2022 at the launch of a new political movement in Abuja, that APC had failed woefully to live up to the expectations of Nigerians who truly desire positive change in all spheres of life since 2015.
He said Nigerians are disappointed with what the APC-led government has offered to them and that it failed woefully to deliver on its promises to Nigerians since its inception.
“Instead of the government improving from where the past government left, the APC-led government deteriorated the existing situation and added to the citizens’ sufferings in all spheres of life.
“The truth must be told that the APC as a party did not fulfil the promises it made to Nigerians.”
Dalung said Nigerians have now found themselves with security challenges such as killings of innocent people, kidnapping, displacing people and worst still, people cannot access their farms as well as other means of livelihood.
Dalung explained that it is not their own selfish interest that inspired the formation of the movement, but it is for the interest of the people and for the wellbeing of the country.
“Anything that will bring peace and will elevate Nigerians from the current situation is a welcome idea and this is one of the reasons for forming the movement.”
