Looting as biggest Abuja mall, Next Cash and Carry, is up in flames

Looters have been on the prowl at the Abuja’s biggest shopping mall, Next Cash and Carry mall which was gutted by fire early on Sunday.

 

Eyewitness report videos trending online and viewed by Persecondnews.com showed the entire roof of the Next Cash and Carry mall located in Kado area of Abuja, on fire.

 

The video also showed people unperturbed by the fire, stealing food items, home appliances, electronics among other items.

 

The looters were reported to have broken into the premises before the arrival of security operatives and rescue officials.

The management of the Next Cash and Carry mall is yet to make an official statement on the cause of the fire, but the men of the Federal Fire Service Department are already on ground trying to contain the inferno.

 

“I don’t really know the cause of the fire, I just not saw thick, black smoke coming from the roof of the mall.

 

“Suddenly I saw people running towards the building carrying carts and rushing out with items. It was a really rowdy scenario,” a witness told persecondnews.
