Five people including the receivers of MacBook valued at N2.5 million and an IPhone 7 worth N150, 000 belonging to the murdered Super TV CEO, Usifo Ataga, have landed in trouble as police have hailed them into court at Yaba, Lagos.

Also brought to justice is Onoh Ojukwu, the 57-year-old father of Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect in the death of Super TV CEO.

For Onoh Ojukwu, police charged him with obstruction of justice as he allegedly prevented them from arresting his daughter.

Babalola Disu, 42, is charged with failing to report a crime (Ataga’s death) to the police.

The three others — Jessica Egbochi, 28; Abayomi Olutayo, 23; and Ifeoluwa Olowu, 23 — were accused of dishonestly receiving stolen items by the State Criminal Investigative and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti in Yaba before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The five accused pleaded innocence of the offences.

Chief Magistrate Adedayo admitted each defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million each with two sureties each in the like sum who must make a deposit of N20, 000 each into the coffers of the court’s Chief Registrar.

Persecondnews recalls that Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect, had earlier been arraigned and remanded in prison for the next 30 days.

Chief Magistrate Adeola Adedayo gave the order following a remand application by police prosecutor, Mr Cyril Ejiofor, in accordance with Section 264 (1 and 2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

Chidinma, a 300-level student of the University of Lagos, was arrested on June 23 for the murder of Usifo and had confessed to stabbing him fatally after having “real fun” at a tryst in Lekki on Lagos island.

She also admitted stealing from him before abandoning at the apartment.

Ojukwu and a co-defendant in the case, Quadri Adedapo, are already cooling their heels in prison until September 5, 2021 pending legal advice from the State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The prosecution had alleged that the three defendants committed the offences of receiving stolen items on June 18 and 23, 2021 at Computer Village, Ikeja, and Alagomeji, Yaba, respectively.

The offences violated Sections 97, 117, 328 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The case has been fixed for Sept. 6, 2021 for mention.
